Tyler Sutton

Vocals and acoustic guitar

Music has been the driving force of my life for as long as I can remember. My family had a very gospel hymn music background. My Grandma Karion Sue Sutton helped me get my first start. After my Grandfather Charles (Doodle) Sutton heard me pickin on her guitar, he loaded us up and went and bought me a fender acoustic guitar that I wore my fingers to the bone with. But I Guess I was born with a country soul and a Rock N Roll heart! I’ve spent years pouring my stories into songs, playing my guitar, and standing on stage. Feigning for the feeling that only music can bring out of you. It’s not just what I do—it’s who I am. I was born and raised with music in my bones. Growing up, I was drawn to the way songs could make you feel—how a single melody could tell a story or stir something deep inside. Whether it was country, rock, or anything with soul, I soaked it all in. It didn’t take long after my grandparents picked me up that guitar, I started writing my own songs. That was the beginning of everything. Over the years, I honed my craft by playing with anyone & anywhere that would have me. I built a reputation as a passionate performer, someone who could bring a song to life and make people feel something real. With about thirty original songs under my belt, I’ve worked to create a sound that’s honest, raw, and true to who I am. The Road and the Stage! Being a musician isn’t always easy, but there’s nothing else I’d rather do. The road calls to me, and every show is a chance to connect—to share my music & life with people who need it just as much as I do. Some nights, I stand under the stage lights, guitar in hand, and I know I’m exactly where I’m meant to be. Music has introduced me to incredible people, but to the 2 women who changed my life: Edda Jean Sutton: My sweet baby girl, thank you for everything and a whole new life! I will be forever proud of you & to my wife, Tabatha Sutton, I cannot thank you enough! Without your support I would have never been able to release these this soon! Thank you for fulfilling every thing you have ever you ever told me you would! What’s Next?  Music will always be a part of me, but life is about more than just the songs—it’s about the people who make them worth singing. . No matter where this journey takes me, one thing is certain: I’ll keep playing, praying, singing & living every moment like it’s the encore of a lifetime!

Drums

I started playing with Tyler and Doug back in November of 2023. We tossed around a few names for the new group, and I threw out Blackbird Strut—a nod to a song written by a close friend of mine and Doug’s, Ike Rose. The name stuck almost immediately; it just seemed to fit our sound and the way we move together musically.

Music runs thick through my family tree. My parents tell stories of me crawling into the kitchen and pulling out pots and pans to bang on before I could even walk. There’s something that happens to my soul when I lock into a groove and other people are sharing that same heartbeat in the moment. It’s hard to explain, but it’s a universal language all the same.

I’m not sure where I’d be without it. I thank God for the gift—and my dad for buying that old drum kit from a pawnshop back in 1989.
